Mid training!

So im in Vila just briefly for their Constitution Day, and its hectic trying to make a post, upload photos and figure out where to go and what ill be wanting to pick up while im here in Vila. Unfortunately i think im not going to be posting up any photos to the blog today.
My time has been great so far, training is slower but my host family has been awesome and vanuatu has been good to me. My dad and i are building an island bow to go fishing with so hopefully i can post up some photos of them. Also, my dad and i built a pull up bar out infront of my house which was a huge hit with all the pikinini's (children in bislama) any time i workout at night all of my brothers and their friends come watch and then try to do all the stuff i do once i finish haha, its a great time watching them.
The highlight of the activities i've been doing with my host family is that the other night me and a few of my fellow trainees were invited by my dad to try making our own Kava. Kava is their drink here which consists of the juice contained in the root of a Kava plant. In order to make Kava island style you chew it up and spit the chewed root into a bowl and continue mashing it with a little water until you have a nice pulpy sligthly watery mixture and then you ring it through a t-shirt and proceed to drink it. 100% not sanitary, and the root tastes awful and makes your mouth numb, but it was fun doing it with the other volunteers and seeing everyone's reaction to making and drinking the kava haha.
Some trainees in my village have been having a little sickness and stuff but for the most part we're doing great as a group and in particular one of the guys in our village brought a bag of fun stuff with him, he's got kevlar on chains to fire dance, and climbing gear to set up a slack line, and he brought his snorkeling gear aswell so we've managed to go out a few times into the reef together. Before this post gets too long, moral of the story is i'm having a great time here!
